The Phoenix Effect
This one-day workshop focuses on how to improve our Organisational Culture (OC).
Not the one that is said to exist, but the real one that is lived and whispered about daily.
The real OC is often plagued by political football and shenanigans, which impact our ability to be open and honest and to challenge poor work, management, or leadership.
Our Workshop Description
Our Phoenix Effect workshop is the process by which an organisation plans to burn down the toxic elements of its organisational culture and working environment and rebuild them through a positive, collaborative, and people-focused long-term plan.
The plan is created by the end of the workshop for everyone to take away and collaborate in its success. The success will be managed, driven and yes, even policed by the Organisational Culture Engagement Team (OCET), or whatever name you decide to give it.
The team will consist of individuals from all levels within the organisation who are motivated to make this work and see the growth of a new and better organisational culture driven by its organisational values (make sure your values are people-focused).
The overarching psychological safety will be guaranteed in the People Strategy document (I can help you with that if you haven’t got one yet). In it, the organisation will state that all colleagues, regardless of their position, will not just be permitted to say what they want to anyone at all, but that they will do so as part of their job.
Furthermore, the organisational values should be copied into every job description as part of the employee contract. This, in turn, permits the one-to-one chats to ensure colleagues are doing their jobs by performing as they should and behaving in a manner that supports the organisational values and culture.
The organisation will then be set up to continue on that journey, with everyone working collaboratively in a psychologically safe environment to grow a superb workplace and attract new talent.

Who Should Attend and Why?
Who?
We recommend all Leaders and Managers or a diverse cross-section of employees (volunteers) from the Senior Leadership Team level to team members. After this workshop, they will form an Organisational Culture Engagement Team (OCET) to drive the change required correctly. They will create a line of communication through the organisation to help everyone understand the purpose of the OCET, how they plan to prepare and bring about the change required, and why the cooperation of every colleague is critical to the team's success.
Why?
For the Phoenix Effect to work, everyone must support it in every way. It should be mentioned in the People Strategy and be discussed at every opportunity and at every level with the OCET, ensuring the same message is cascaded.
This cannot be allowed to become just a good idea that dies a death. It must be actioned and pushed constantly. “Belief creates reality” is an important phrase because if just a few believe this to be no good, it will spread quickly and be lost.
Find the right volunteers, and give them the time needed to make it work. Help them light the fire and raise the new culture, and your organisation will reap the rewards in terms of employee engagement, retention and profit forever.
